Mossy Brae: Scottish Songs from Beethoven and Burns
Join us for an evening of Scottish music and songs on Burn’s Night!
Renowned Scottish poet Robert Burns wrote some of the most iconic verses of the 1700’s, including the New Year tradition “Auld Lang Syne.” Beethoven set poems from Burns and other Scottish poets for piano trio and voice. This performance weaves together Betthoven’s “Ghost” Trio, a tribute to Shakespeare’s MacBeth, with whimsical Scottish poetry in a type of musical Scottish tartan. Sing along with us in verses of “O Danny Boy” and “Auld Lang Syne” to ring in the joyous New Year.
